Vi Ohe

  • I am an Economics major with strong interests in public health and infectious disease. I enjoy folding origami and playing video games when I am not at our school.

I have always wanted to be a part of the Senate. I genuinely enjoy policy writing and I am familiar with some of our current senators and the work they have done. I now seek to become a senator and enact the change that our students need, because I fear that the Senate has, in some ways, failed to do so.

I will always listen to my peers and go out of my way to hear the needs of the Lang community. I am at your service!

    Financial Transparency

I believe any institution that collects students’ money must be fully transparent. This includes both student senate expenditures and The New School’s endowment. I will advocate strongly for clear, accessible reporting and accountability at every level.

    Facilities Reform

Our campus facilities must work for everyone. Too many automatic doors are broken, forcing disabled students to wait for security to assist them. Elevators in several buildings are overcrowded and undersized, creating daily challenges—not just for students with disabilities, but for everyone. I will use the senate’s relationship with campus facilities to push for real improvements. I also have a comprehensive plan to reduce high-touch surfaces in restrooms to help prevent the spread of illness.

    Public Health

Student Health Services does important work, and I want to support and expand their efforts. By using the Senate’s platform and resources, I will advocate for stronger public health advocacy across campus.

Drew Vernor

  • I am a rising senior, studying Economics and Law. For the past two years, I have served as the treasurer of The New School’s Economics Society, and as a member of the Black Student Union. I also represent The New School on our Policy Debate Team.  From first-hand experience, I am aware of the challenges student organizations face in requesting additional funds and utilizing allocated budgets. Outside of TNS, I work for a local nonprofit providing free legal services for immigrants.

I want to use my senior year to positively impact Lang. My goal is to foster a more unified student body through e

ffective communication and transparency. I want to make the senate more accountable, increase its ability to meet student needs while ensuring that it focuses on problems that students care about like the threat of ICE, future career prospects and academic freedom.

If elected, I hope to improve accessibility, encourage community, and demand transparency. I will serve as a direct line of communication between my peers and the student senate, addressing concerns through my leadership. I’d also love to host Career Fairs focused on Lang Students. As your student senator, I am dedicated to making sure you know where your money is going.

George Munemo

  • My name is George Morgan Munemo. I am a student of philosophy and economics at Eugene Lang. I have played soccer for as long as I have been walking, eventually captaining both my high school and club teams. I am an animal lover, an exercise-lover, but most importantly I am a lover of study. I spend the majority of my time with my nose tucked in a book (usually that of a social theorist or economist) when I am not in class. I am an incredibly determined worker, and once I am given a task it becomes my whole life. I would describe myself as easy-going and often quiet, but someone who cares deeply about the people, topics, and interests close to me. I love to crack a joke every once and a while but I often find myself just toiling over my own thoughts. I am the type of person who at first may seem a little timid or reserved, but I would do anything for the people and things I care about.

I have always felt that I have a talent for leadership and the ability to convey the desires and wishes of a group of people to members of administrations or those in positions of authority.

I would attempt to spend as much time as possible around students in different departments of Eugene Lang in hopes to gather a general picture of the student body's concerns and hopes. Given that I am double-majoring in philosophy and economics I spend a good amount of time with Lang students in the social sciences, but my living situation currently keeps me around students in the film, urban planning, and other departments at Lang. I believe these connections will make it easy for me to gain a good idea of how the different sections of our college function, and what can be improved at each.

I have no previous experience in student organizations, but in high school I captained my soccer team and played a role in connecting the student-athletes with administration and faculty. I am also running for the student trustee spot on The New School's board of trustees for next year.

I believe the University's administration may not always act in the best interests of those who matter most at our institution, the students, and that my determination, perseverance, and enthusiasm make me an ideal candidate to voice the wishes of those students in a way that will be heard.

As a student of the social sciences, I feel very strongly about the intensity of academic instruction, and I have felt at times during my first year that much can be done to improve the difficulty/rigor of our courses at Eugene Lang. More importantly however, I feel that something NEEDS to be done to improve the levels of participation and involvement of the student body in these classes.

Aly Reiter

  • Hi, my name is Aly Reiter, and I'm a first-year student at The New School, I plan to study Journalism + Design with a potential minor in Politics. I'm passionate about building a just community and ensuring that everyone's voices and needs are heard.

My goal is to represent the student body and address areas where our school can improve. I am committed to building a strong, united community at The New School, one where everyone feels proud to be a part of it.

I will represent the students of The New School by actively engaging with them and listening to their concerns. I will bring their voices to the USS meetings and advocate for the changes that are most important to them.
